I am a New York-based psychotherapist offering in-person and virtual sessions with individuals and couples. I also provide relationship consulting and coaching.
When working together, it is essential that I come to know and really understand what you’re struggling with and what you want for yourself. In this way, we can work from what you need and where you want to go. You'll have my attention and presence, my compassion and emotional sensitivity, my intelligence, warmth, and insightfulness as resources to draw on throughout the process.
My approach is guided by my training as a psychoanalyst, but I am a responsive and pragmatic therapist who draws on a wide variety of therapeutic techniques. I consider it an honor to be able to accompany my clients in their individual and unique process of psychological change, and it’s a true joy to witness moments of insight and growth.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was an academic researcher and professor who examined the development of new forms of personal narrative. My research was enlivened by a passionate belief, shared by me and my research subjects, in the power our of own personal stories to create connection, and as a result, a more humane world. I bring my previous expertise in forms of personal narration into the room as I help my clients to understand and reevaluate the stories that shape them. My hope is that together we can come to understand you and your story in new ways.
I earned a PhD from the University of Michigan, and I also hold a BA from Cornell University. I conducted my clinical training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP).
